After a facial, people tell us their skin feels smoother and calmer right away. The #1 rule to keep that result is simple: for the next 48 hours, treat your skin like it’s in a quiet recovery window. Keep things cool, gentle, and clean. Skip heavy sweating, hot water, exfoliants, and direct sun. Stick to a mild cleanse, a lightweight moisturizer, and daily broad-spectrum SPF so your Hydrating Facial glow in Carol Stream lasts.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: keep the “calm skin” feeling you just got
Our Hydrating Facial is 80 minutes of gentle exfoliation, a deeply moisturizing mask, and nourishing serums designed to leave your skin soft and supple. That fresh finish can fade fast if you hit your face with heat, sweat, or harsh products too soon. Here’s what we generally recommend right after you leave our treatment room.
The big four for 48 hours: keep showers lukewarm, keep workouts light, keep hands off your face, and keep sunscreen on in the morning.
Do this (simple, low-maintenance)
- Wait a few hours before washing if you can, then use a mild cleanser and cool to lukewarm water.
- Moisturize lightly the same day. Think barrier-supporting, not heavy and greasy.
- Use broad-spectrum SPF the next morning. Freshly treated skin is often more UV-sensitive.
- If you’re out in humid July weather in Carol Stream, keep your routine oil-free and breathable so sweat doesn’t sit on the skin.
Avoid this (it’s what triggers irritation most often)
- Heavy exercise, saunas, hot yoga, and hot showers. Heat and sweat can sting and can also wash off what we just put in.
- Pools and lakes. Chlorine plus freshly treated skin is not a fun combo.
- Face scrubs, cleansing brushes, and any “polishing” tools.
- Makeup for at least a few hours, or until any redness settles. Let the skin breathe first.
The first week: protect smoothness, keep pores looking tighter
A lot of people notice their skin looks cleaner, softer, and more even after a facial, and we want you to keep that momentum going. For the next seven days, the goal is barrier support. That’s what helps the “plump” look stick around instead of turning into dryness again.
Skip actives for one week: no AHA/BHA exfoliants, no retinol, and no strong acne spot treatments unless we’ve told you otherwise. Your skin usually looks better when you don’t push it.
This matters a lot if you’re active around the Prairie Path or you live near the Hiawatha Drive area and you’re squeezing in a run after work. Sweat happens. Just be smart about it.
Quick post-run care (2 minutes, no drama)
- Rinse with cool to lukewarm water as soon as you can.
- Cleanse gently. No scrubbing. Pat dry.
- Apply a hydrating layer, then moisturizer. If it’s humid July weather in Carol Stream, keep it lightweight.
- If it’s still daylight, SPF again.
A simple routine that supports the best moisturizing facial results
You don’t need a 10-step routine after a Hydrating Facial. You need the right types of products in the right order. If you commute in from I-355 or you’re hopping off Metra and you want something low-maintenance, this is the easiest setup to stick to.
Morning (2 to 3 minutes)
Mild cleanse (or just rinse if you’re not oily), hydrating toner or hyaluronic serum, barrier-support moisturizer, then broad-spectrum SPF.
Night (3 to 4 minutes)
Mild cleanse, hydrating serum, ceramide or barrier-style moisturizer. If your skin feels tight, add another thin layer of moisturizer instead of reaching for an acid.
If you’re not sure what counts as “gentle, ” choose fragrance-free and skip anything that tingles. After hydration work, calm usually wins.
When to text us: normal redness vs. a sign you should pause
A little pinkness, mild warmth, or “I feel freshly scrubbed” sensitivity can happen, especially if you’re already dry or reactive. That should calm down pretty quickly. If anything feels off, we want you to reach out. People tell us we take time to explain things, answer questions, and make sure you’re comfortable. That support doesn’t stop when you walk out the door.
Reach out before restarting strong actives if redness or sensitivity lasts beyond 48 to 72 hours, or if you’re tempted to “fix it” with a scrub, peel, or retinol.
If you’re ready to keep that plump, healthy look going, our Hydrating Facial is 80 minutes and $110. We’re right here in Carol Stream and easy to get to for evening or weekend appointments if you’re coming from Glendale Heights, Bloomingdale, Wheaton, Hanover Park, or Winfield.

Hydrating Facial aftercare FAQs we get all the time
How soon can I wash my face after a Hydrating Facial?
Give your skin a few hours if you can. Then wash with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water, and pat dry. Skip hot water that day.
Can I wear makeup after a Hydrating Facial?
Usually, yes, but wait at least a few hours. If your skin looks a little pink or feels warm, hold off until it calms. When you do apply makeup, keep it light and non-comedogenic.
Is it okay to exercise or go for a run after a Hydrating Facial?
We recommend skipping heavy workouts for 24 to 48 hours. Sweat and heat can irritate freshly treated skin. If you do a light walk or an easy run, rinse and cleanse gently as soon as you’re done, then reapply moisturizer and SPF if it’s daytime.
Will my skin be more sensitive to the sun after a Hydrating Facial?
It often is, especially right after gentle exfoliation. Use a non-comedogenic broad-spectrum SPF every morning and reapply if you’re outside.
Which skincare ingredients should I avoid after a Hydrating Facial?
Skip AHA/BHA exfoliants and retinol for one week. Also avoid strong scrubs, heavily fragranced products, and anything that makes your skin sting or tingle.
What’s the difference between a “moisturizing facial” and a Hydrating Facial?
People use “moisturizing facial” as a general term. Our Hydrating Facial focuses on gentle exfoliation plus a deeply moisturizing mask and nourishing serums, so your skin feels soft, supple, and plump without feeling stripped.
